Ubuntu Basic Commands for Beginners
To write and execute commands, we have to use an application called Terminal. In windows, we call it a Command prompt. We can open a terminal in two ways.
- Show applications --> Search for Terminal
- Shortcut to open Terminal Ctrl + Alt + T
Once we open the terminal, it will show something like this in the below screenshot.
Let's quickly know what are those.
- Here Before @ symbol is represent User Name, in my case my name
- After @ symbol is machine name(Laptop or PC Name).
- ~ : Represent home directory in Linux. Home directory means home/Username, in my case /home/nagarjuna
Now learn some simple and very basic ubuntu commands we use very frequently.
PWD: PWD full form is Present working directory, is used to know where we are in.
